A Message from the Stonemeister
Welcome to our blog. Joe and I have known each other since fifth grade, and have been friend since seventh. We could hardly be more different. Joe was much more of an athlete — a puny, skinny athlete, but he was pretty quick. I was always more cerebral. Joe was Italian, while I was Jewish. But we were both cursed with a sick, twisted, and clever sense of humor.
Over the years, our lives took decidedly different paths. I received a college degree and ventured down a technical path, rising to the top of my game at military aircraft companies, NASA, and later on in telecommunications.
Joe almost graduated college, but never got around to finishing. Instead he was lured by the siren song of manual labor, working in, later owning, and finally destroying, a business in the audio-visual business, setting up light and sound for real businesses to conduct presentations in hotels and conference halls.
One common theme between Joe and myself was the phone conversations. No matter where we lived (neither of us resides in New York anymore), we would call and our conversations would go from the bizarre to the poignant, from insightful to just plain funny. At long last I suggested we start recording them, to share with the world. This formed the basis for JoeandtheMeister.com.
We hope you enjoy. If not, drop dead.
